A temporary update
Hey all,
I haven't had a chance to get my blog updates from my laptop to the internet yet, but I promise I'll do that soon. In the meantime, I wanted to say a quick hello and let everyone know we are still alive! Tonight we are staying in the backpacker ghetto for our last night here in Bangkok. We just finished a full day tour along the River Kwai, with the bridge constructed by WWII Ally POWs and a trip to a national park where we climbed waterfalls, explored caves, and did everything you can't do without a liability waiver in the states!
We've toured all the huge city temples and palaces and eaten delicious Thai food from restaurants and street vendors (no chicken on the street though). The traffic, horns, taxis, and narrow mazes of alleyways keep us always on our toes. The smell of food cooking, raw sewage, and black pollution makes for a unique Bangkok smell and the oppressive steam keeps our shirts stuck tightly to us at all times!
Tomorrow we are heading off at about 6am to make it by public bus to the Cambodian border before it closes at 4pm--getting stuck in the shady border town would be a very bad thing!
Hope everyone travelling everywhere is safe. Congrats Emily on graduating yesterday!! I promise full stories and entertaining descriptions of our accomodations and adventures soon!
David
